Ovid Guzmán López, The mousewill be presented again in front of an American justice court on January 9, 2026 to listen to its sentence, after declaring on July 11 guilty of various positions related to drug trafficking, money laundering and possession of firearms.

Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman, from the Northern District of Illinois and in charge of the case, rescheduled the hearing, originally set for September 1, 2025, detailed a document from the Chicago Court.

Coleman will dictate his verdict based on the cooperation that Ovid Guzmán offers to the United States justice in accordance with the agreement reached this month. The defendant seeks to avoid life imprisonment, condemns imposed on his father, Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, one of the world’s largest criminal organizations.

The mousewho became the first son of El Chapo In declaring himself guilty in that country, he promised to provide substantial information about his organization and features, accused of trafficking large amounts of heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. He could even declare against his relatives.

Guzmán López also agreed to pay the government about 80 million dollars in properties and other assets as part of the guilt agreement reached with prosecutors.
