Edmundo González Urrutia said in an interview for the Spanish newspaper The country That the release of an American ex -military convicted of three murders committed in Spain is a “dark and suspicious act.”

The ex -Marine Dahud Hanid Ortiz, of dual American and Venezuelan nationality was part of the ten prisoners that the Government of Nicolás Maduro released last Friday, within a negotiation that included the return of 252 migrants arrested in El Salvador since March.

Hanid, who is now free in the United States (USA), was sentenced a year ago in Venezuela to 30 years in prison for the murder of two Cuban workers and an Ecuadorian client in June 2016, in a law firm in Madrid.
According to the newspaper The Washington Post Hanid’s release caused discomfort within the US State Department, because Hanid was never on the list that the Trump government asked Venezuela.
«I don’t think it was something naive. That has to have an explanation, because someone who has those background … », said González Urrutia.
He also warned that this Sunday’s municipal elections in Venezuela “are not free or fair or transparent” and that is why the greatest opposition coalition does not participate in them.
