In a match that was broadcast on TV Brazil, Brazil suffered, but secured the first place of group B of the Copa America of women’s soccer by drawing with Colombia 0-0, this Friday (25), in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The result – even obtained with a player less since the 22 minutes of the early stage – made the selection led by Arthur Elias end the classification phase with 10 points, while the Colombians totaled eight. In the semifinal, Brazil will face Uruguay, on Tuesday, in Quito, at 21h, in Brasília time.
With three wins in the first three games, Arthur Elias chose to send to the field a lineup with several modifications. Brazil and Colombia arrived unbeaten to the final round, leaving to define who would be first and second.
The Brazilian coach’s plans were disturbed when the goalkeeper Lorena left the area and cut her arm, 22 minutes into the first half, receiving the red card directly. Colombia, which was already dangerous, dominated the first stage, seeking the goal that would lead him the key.
After the break, Brazil managed to balance the actions and even created some opportunities. Yasmim had the chance of the goal, but preferred to cross instead of kicking.
The Brazilian team managed to contain the momentum of the Colombians and hold the 0-0 on the score until the end.
Colombia will make the other semifinal of the Copa America against Argentina, also in Quito, on Monday (28).
The decision of the competition takes place next Saturday, August 2, again in Quito.
