The Supreme

A Judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil prohibited camps on Saturday In defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro, processed by coup, in front of the venues of the three powers, ministries or barracks of the Armed Forces, in Brasilia.

Magistrate Alexandre de Moraes made that determination after deputies Bolsonaristas camp in front of the supreme to protest against the precautionary measures imposed on the ex -president for allegedly trying to obstruct his judgment for a coup attempt.

Since July 18, the ultra -rightist leader uses electronic anklet, he is forced to spend the nights and on weekends at home and is prohibited from using social networks, talking with other investigated and approaching embassies.

In this context, Deputy Hélio Lopes, who usually accompanies Bolsonaro in his public events, set up a tent against the supreme and put on a tape on his mouth while carrying a Bible.

“While Bolsonaro shut up, censor the people and make fun of our faith, I will resist, even in silence,”the parliamentarian declared in his social networks.

Other deputies of the radical base that support the former head of state (2019-2022), including João Chrisóstomo, better known as ‘Colonel Chrisóstomo’, also joined that demonstration.

But De Moraes ordered the governor of Brasilia, Ibaneis Rocha, End the camping, under penalty of detaining the participants, because in their opinion they could be committing a “criminal practice.”

The protesters chose to leave the so -called Plaza de los Tres powers and move to a point of the esplanade of the ministries, where other official bodies are found.

However, De Moraes issued a new ruling in the early hours of Saturday in which he banned “any camp within a radius of the Plaza de los Tres powers, the esplanade of the ministries and, obviously, in front of the barracks of the Armed Forces.”

The judge decided in that sense to “guarantee public security” and “avoid new criminal acts similar to the coup acts that occurred on January 8, 2023”.

That day, thousands of Bolsonaro supporters invaded and vandalized the headquarters of the Supreme, Congress and the Presidency in search of a military intervention to overthrow the government of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, which had assumed a week before.

The Prosecutor’s Office places that episode as the climax of a coup plot that acted by violent means to cancel the 2022 elections, which Lula won, and keep Bolsonaro in power.

The Brazilian president is accused of “leading” the plot and faces a possible penalty of 40 years in prison.

He is also being investigated with his son, the deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, for “instigating” the United States government to impose sanctions on the judges of the Brazilian Supreme and Brazil himself to try to cancel the coup by coup. EFE
