Brazil closed this Friday (25) with another silver medal at the World University Games (JMU). Judoca Paulista Beatriz Freitas climbed the podium of the category up to 78 kg. In the final she faced the German Anna Monta Olek, the current world runner-up. The opponent was superior in combating the undressing waza-ai followed by immobilization.
After the awards ceremony, Beatriz spoke about the day of competition and how she reconciles study and sport.
“Of course I’m happy, winning a silver medal in world games. But I felt that I could more. Tomorrow we will have the dispute for teams and we go with everything. It is possible to study, go to college and at the same time be an elite athlete.
With silver, Brazil rose from 20th to 19th position in the medal board, with one gold, three silver and five bronze.

Another Brazilian who made beautiful in Essen was gymnast Diogo Soares. Finalist in the general individual at the Paris Olympic Games last year, he finished the JMU in fifth place.
“The general individual is hard. You go through all the devices, the last one, it is tired. I made good performances, but I made mistakes on the ground and ended up getting out of the podium. I really wanted this medal. But we have more competitions ahead to improve even more and I will go back to the next and take the medal,” said the 23 -year -old Paulista gymnast.
This Saturday (25), Brazil will have two good chances to win medals. In men’s basketball, Amarelinha will fight for the gold against the United States team, from 15h (Brasília time). The other opportunity in Brazil climbing the podium is in the triple jump, with João Pedro Silva de Azevedo. He qualified at the final with the second best grade this Friday (25), by jumping 16m28cm.
