SANTO DOMINGO.- This Friday the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM), In a session headed by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.

The meeting takes place in the National Palace and has the participation of all members of the organ.

Luago of one hour gathered, the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) decided to review the Regulation 1-19, which establishes the criteria and procedures to evaluate the performance of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), with the objective of guaranteeing the quality and efficiency of the Judiciary.

This measure was adopted during the first session of the CNM, convened to discuss the evaluation of SCJ judges and the designation of the Members of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

The meeting took place in the National Palace and was chaired by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader.

According to The members of the Council explainedbefore starting the process of evaluation or appointment of judges, it is common to review and adapt the Current regulations, as part of the regular operation protocol of the CNM.

The legal consultant of the Executive Power, Antoliano Peralta Romeroindicated that the approval was limited to a review of Regulation 1-19, and that in case it reviewedn implies some modification, the proposal will be submitted to public consultation for a period of 20 days to receive observations from citizenship and interested.

Once this review and consultation process is finished, the CNM will proceed to define and approve the work schedule for the eventual ratification or replacement of Judges in the Supreme Court of Justice and the Superior Electoral Court.

All members of the CNM participated in the session, including the president of the Senate, Ricardo de los Santos; the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; The president of the SCJ, Luis Henry Molina; the president of Constitutional Court, Napoleon Estévez; Senator Omar Fernández; the deputy Tobias Crespo; and magistrate Nancy Salcedo, who attended virtually.

The call responds to the provisions of the Constitution on the performance evaluation of Judges Blas Rafael Fernández Gómez, Pilar Jiménez Ortiz, Manuel Alexis Read Ortiz and Moisés Ferrer Landrónwho turn seven years.
