Santo Domingo, RD. -The Public Ministry requested preventive detention, as a measure of coercion, against Jean Andrés Pumarol Fernándezaccused of kill a woman and hurt five People last Tuesday, July 23, in an Apartment building in the Naco sector, in the National District.
The hearing, initially scheduled for this Friday, was reprogrammed by the judge Rigoberto Sena For Sunday, in order to guarantee the transfer to the Court of the accused that is currently admitted to a health center.
According to the application submitted by the Public Ministry, represented by the prosecutor Vidalis Mora, attached to the Department of Crimes and Crimes against the person, of the National District Prosecutor’s Office, the accused broke into several homes of the Naco Dorado IV residential, assaulting different residents, including Yolanda Handal Abugabir, who lost his life.

The accused attacked and also wounded Gricelda Ozuna Torres, Francisco Texano, Teresa Fabián de Heredia, Victoria Heredia and Guillermo Ramón Pumarol Castellanos.
The incident was immediately attended by National Police agents who came in response to a call to the emergency and security system 9-1-1. The Public Ministry was also presented to the place.
During the intervention, police officers managed to control and arrest the accused, who was armed with knives and showed violent behavior. The accused was arrested in flagrant crime.
The Public Ministry imputes to Pumarol Fernández, 30 years old, the violation of articles 295 and 304 of the Criminal Code, which typify and aggravate the voluntary homicide; Article 2 on homicide attempt, and article 309, which sanctions wounds and voluntary violence. Also, violations of articles 83 and 86 of Law 631-16 for the control and regulation of weapons, ammunition and related materials, for the use of white weapons for criminal purposes.
Given the circumstances of the case, the Public Ministry considers preventive detention as the most ideal coercion measure to guarantee the presence of the accused during the judicial process, in accordance with article 226, numeral 7, of the Criminal Procedure Code.
