Fallece Fello Suberví; declaran duelo tres días

Three days of official mourning declared President Luis Abinader for the death Rafael Suberví Bonilla “Fello”, who died at 83 and his wake began in the afternoon yesterday, at the Blandino funeral home, of Abraham Lincoln.

His relatives began to receive the condolences of personalities from different sectors and close to the connoted political leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), and who militated most of his life in the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), of which he was president, legislator and mayor, highlighting as an iconic figure and great struggles.

The Government issued the days of mourning, through Decree 387-25, officialized from today, which highlights that Suberví Bonilla was a lawyer and politician who served important public functions in the Dominican state and assumed high responsibilities in the party system of the Dominican Republic.

His death occurred in the early morning of Mars and was released by his son, Fellito Suberví, through a communication of the corporation of the aqueduct and sewerage of Santo Domingo (Caasd), an entity he directs.

He suffered from a health condition, which kept him in his residence in recent years. I uploaded a long political career and in state entities. He was twice mayor of the city of Santo Domingo (1986-1990 and 1994-1998), twice Secretary of Tourism, in 1982 and 2001, and deputy for the province of Barahona, in 1998.

He was presidential candidate in the 2000 and 2004 elections, in this last year, he aspired to the vice presidency of the Republic. He was born in Barahona, on July 6, 1942.

His son Fellito recalled that his father celebrated his 83th birthday on the 6th of this month.

It was last aspiration, in its 60 years of political activity it was expressed in 2016, by the Mayor’s Office of the National District, this time by the PRM, but retired from the contest.

As mayor of Santo Domingo, he devised the boulevard of the stars on Winston Churchill Avenue and built the water source in the Malecon, George Washington Avenue, called cybernetics.

The PRM reported that he will perform an act in memory of Suberví Bonilla at noon this Thursday at the National House.

Three days of wake and fello assessment

Political, businessmen, legislators, government officials and people from various fields value their trajectory.

The former president Hipólito Mejía defined him as a “political, great pragmatic and deep democratic feelings.”

The PRD president, Miguel Vargas, described him as an authentic leader.

The mayor of the National District and General Secretary of the PRM, Carolina Mejía, highlighted her character as leader.
The reservation bank administrator, Samuel Pereyra, described him as a great ally of the country’s capital, “who worked honestly.”

The president of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara, urged politicians to express the solidarity that Fello had. Ellis Pérez, whom Fello happened in the Ministry of Tourism, said he did a magnificent job. He appreciated his dedication.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, who was president of the National Association of Hotels and Restaurants (Asonahores), highlighted the importance that Dominican tourism gave fallen.
