In a commitment to strengthen HIV prevention and promote self -care, Bogotá installed the first free dispenser machine of HIV Autotest, condoms and lubricants at the Samper Mendoza health center of the Integrated Subnet of Health Services Centro Oriente Este (Carrera 22 No. 22a – 26), in the town of the martyrs.
The initiative, led by Enterritorio SA, the Ministry of Health, the District Health Secretariat and the Centro East Subnet, seeks to guarantee safe, confidential and free access to the rapid HIV test, whose results are obtained in just 15 minutes.

“The installation of this machine represents an advance towards equity in health. Allowing the appropriate diagnosis empowers people and contributes to break the HIV transmission cycle, ”said Luis Efraín Fernández Otálora, a special auditor of the Centro East.
How does it work?
Scan a visible QR code on the machine.
Fill a digital form with basic data.
Receive an alphanumeric code by WhatsApp, SMS or email.
Enter the code into the machine and remove the kit.
Each kit includes a quick HIV test, nine condoms, lubricant and elements for sample.
Advance in Public Health
In the first two weeks of operation, 250 people have accessed the test, which shows the acceptance of the strategy. The dispenser can deliver up to 30 daily kits.
Autotest test allows users to know their serological status privately and safely, No need to go to a laboratory or medical consultation. In case of a positive result, the machine offers WhatsApp lines with 24 -hour professional care, to accompany the confirmation and treatment process.

Coverage and expectation
This is the second machine of its kind in Colombia, after the one installed in Cali. Its location in the martyrs responds to the fact that this town, together with Chapinero and La Candelaria, concentrates the largest number of HIV reports in the capital.
Expected impact
With this strategy, It seeks to increase early diagnosis, link more people to antiretroviral treatment and reduce access barriers to sexual and reproductive health services.
