The Ombudsman, Josué Gutiérrezwas evicted this morning from the regional meeting of peasant communities that takes place in the city of Puno.
The incident was recorded after trying to spend the word before dozens of peasant community members, who began to pipify it and rejected their presence in the place.
One of his representatives was clear and forcefully asked him to leave the place. “We do not want your presence by Mr. Gutierrez, that has to be very clear, we cannot endorse Mr. Josué Gutiérrez with all respect that you deserve us, you will retire, you cannot give inauguration words, which is another,” he said
Visibly uncomfortable, Gutiérrez heard the words and only managed to nod.
Despite the boos, the head of the Ombudsman He took the microphone and tried to address those present, however, this only exacerbated the spirits for which another community intervened who made it clear that it was not welcome in the place.
“They do not want me to speak, to say anything, you defend the murderers of Dina Boluarte, to the Congress and the great miners nationwide. The Ombudsman did anything about the areas contaminated with heavy metals, therefore as a defender you must leave here, of this event,” he recriminated.
Faced with this situation, and in the midst of strict security measures, Josué Gutiérrez had no choice but to leave the place.
Upon leaving, in statements to the press, the authority assured that the community members were uninformed.
Regarding the case of the victims of the violent protests that were registered between December 2022 and February 2023 against the Government of Dina Boluarte, he replied that the institution presented reports that were taken into account by the Inter -American Commission on Human Rights and International Observers.
“When I assumed the position, in June 2023, the first thing I did was to come to Puno, I met with the relatives of the victims, we asked for the repair of the relatives and at the same time a pension that allows them to live decently. When the Ombudsman’s Office has been supported in Lima, but it seems that they have not informed them,” he said.
In that line Gutiérrez added that all this is accredited in photos, videos, trades and documents. However, he argued that “given the effervescence of those present, one cannot be stubborn but understand that there is no suitable space to speak”, so he proceeded to retire.
