The La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB) and the La Romana Bayahibe (CTRB) tourist cluster have been recognized as Top Members 2025 by The Code —A international initiative that promotes the protection of children and adolescents in the face of sexual exploitation in travel and tourism contexts.
This prestigious recognition was granted to only 25 organizations globally, selected for its outstanding commitment to the implementation of effective measures to prevent child exploitation in the tourism sector.
“These efforts are specifically oriented to the prevention of child sexual exploitation and the effective response to any risk situation, promoted by a firm commitment to the protection of minors,” said Ana García-Sotoca, executive director of both institutions.
The distinction highlights the continuous work carried out by AHRB and CTRB in areas such as: risk analysis and impact on their operations, adoption of internal policies and child protection procedures, training programs for staff, active participation with guests and local communities, as well as collaboration with NGOs, authorities and forces of the order.
“This recognition reinforces the positioning of the Roman as a destination committed to sustainable and responsible tourism,” added García-Sotoca. Both organizations represent La Romana as the only tourist destination in the Dominican Republic included in this elite selection, together with companies and associations from countries such as Colombia, Mexico, the United States, Germany, Thailand, Spain, Finland, among others.
As part of the recognition, the AHRB and the CTRB will participate in a series of international webinars scheduled for September 2025, in which they will share their experiences and good practices with the global network of The Code, within the framework of World Tourism Day.
