The president of the Dominican Association of Poulticulture (ADA), Pavel Concepción, said Monday that there is sufficient chicken production to supply the national market and that there is a reserve of that product of seven million frozen pounds, strategically created to respond to consumers in times of decrease or high temperatures.
The president of the ADA acknowledged that there has been a natural decrease in the offer, as a consequence of the high temperatures registered in the country, but emphasized that all distribution channels are currently supplied.
“All channels are satisfied. There is a decrease in the offer product of heat, we recognize that, but there is no chicken shortage,” he said. He said that for this month there is an offer of 21 million pounds of chicken, in addition to the frozen reserve.
Pavel Concepción highlighted the role of planning in supply stability. “It is precisely the effect of the planning that the private sector has had together with the government authorities, which has allowed today to have a strategic reserve of more than seven million pounds of chicken, in addition to a current availability of eight million pounds,” he said.
Concepción said that this coordination model has allowed to maintain a stable supply, even in periods of seasonal pressure. “Production planning is precisely what has allowed us to have eight million pounds today, as we are announcing. That is the result of the joint work between the private sector and the authorities,” he reiterated.
The ADA called consumers to maintain confidence in market supply, specifying that large, medium and small producers work to maintain enough chicken in the marking, at a fair price.
