Capital authorities designed a “master plan” within the strategrification strategy called Bando 1which seeks to reduce the impact of high housing costs and avoid a greater displacement of local inhabitants by foreigners.
What are the most gentrified colonies?
According to Alejandro Encinas, Secretary of Planning, Territorial Planning and Metropolitan Coordination, the colonies in which the highest cost of living and housing for sale and rent were presented are:
Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office
- Racecourse
- Condesa racecourse
- Countess
- Juarez
- North Rome
- South Rome
- Doctors
- Buenos Aires
Miguel Hidalgo Mayor’s Office
- ESCONÓN SECTION I.
- Escandón Section II
- San Miguel Chapultepec Section I
- San Miguel Chapultepec Section II
Both demarcations cover 17,376 properties, 910 apples and 3,510 real estate affected to urban cultural heritage.
Why does the anti -encentrification plan in these colonies begin?
The Master Plan starts from the recognition, by local authorities, of the effects and effects caused by gentrification. Given this, a set of public actions and policies oriented to contain the expansion of this phenomenon towards other colonies and mayorship was designed.
According to Encinas, the selected colonies are those where gentrification has detonated a process of real estate speculationwhich has led many inhabitants to choose to rent their homes through short stay platforms.
“Particularly with the arrival of sectors of greater economic capacity, which move to traditional settlers, there is an increase in the cost of services and goods, which are in this delimitation,” he said.
