Santo Domingo.– The woman who died on Wednesday after being attacked with five other people by a young man with alleged mental problems in the Dorado Naco Residencial IVin the exclusive Naco sector of the National District, she was the sister of the daughter -in -law of former president Hipólito Mejía.
The victim was identified as Yolanda Handal Abugabir70 years, sister of Nancy Handalwife of Felipe Mejíaeldest son of the ex -president. The incident occurred around 4:00 in the afternoon and according to the preliminary reports, Yolanda was killed in his apartment by the aggressor, who lived in the same building.
The attacker, identified as Jean Andrés Pumarol Fernández30, he is the son of the well -known golfer Guillermo Pumarol62, who was also injured during the incident.
The fact also left four other injured people: Victoria Heredia36 years; Francisco Texanoneighbor, 68 years; Teresa Fabián Heredia-cuity of the deceased- and Griselda Ozuna48 years.
Although the police did not confirm the family kinship, after the tragic event, the vice president of the Republic, Raquel Peñaand the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejíathey appeared at the scene, although they did not offer statements to the press, which confirms it.
According to police reports, the young man was descending through the floors of the building, playing doors and stabbing those who opened.
The National Police spokesman, Diego PesqueiraHe confirmed that Pumarol Fernández carried two white weapons at the time of being arrested and was arrested at the scene, being transferred to the institution’s palace.
“We are preliminarily conducting interviews and place surveys to establish the real circumstances in which the events occurred,” he said.
On whether the young man suffers from any mental disorder, Pesqueira said they could not advance anything about it.
