The Venezuelan State promotes an international conference on the “protection and safeguard of cultural and natural heritage” in times of application of unilateral coercive measures (MCU), to be held from September 8 to 12, 2025, in the city of Caracas.
With the appointment, which will be done in face -to -face mode and distance via the videoconference platform, it seeks to promote efforts concerted internationally in order to consolidate a common position that facilitates the adoption of effective measures for the protection of cultural and natural heritage in the states subject to unilateral coercive measures (MCU).
Likewise, it seeks to promote the elaboration and adoption of an international statement that establishes specific safeguards for the preservation of such assets in contexts where MCUs can hinder their conservation, access or sustainable development.
Additionally, early alert systems are sought, the evaluation of the impact of the MCU on assets, and will be advocated by a global background for safeguard projects in affected countries. The implementation of educational programs and cultural activities that celebrate diversity and cultural resistance will also be managed.
In that sense, the general theme will deal with the impact of MCU on cultural and natural heritage, international mechanisms for protection, cultural and environmental rights, technology at the service of cultural and natural heritage, and community participation (popular power).
Participation in the event is open for all international organizations, states, social movements and experts, depending on building a network of solidarity and cooperation, which guarantees the protection of the cultural and natural heritage of humanity.
