In the heart of the municipality of Sáchica, just 7 kilometers from Villa de Leyva, there is one of the most fascinating tourist destinations in Colombia: the Gondava Park, also known as the Great Valley of Dinosaurs. This theme park offers a unique experience that combines science, history and entertainment, allowing visitors to travel millions of years to the past and walk between real -scale replicas of prehistoric creatures.
Founded at the end of 2009, Gondava was the dream come true of businessman Bernardo Salamanca, expert in animations and special effects. In its 34 hectares of extension, the Park houses impressive figures such as a brachyoseurus of 14 meters high, a rex tyrannosaurus, triceratops, velocirrapores, mammoths and even the dreaded titanoboa. These structures are made with materials such as concrete, fiberglass and metal frames, based on scientific studies with the support of ingeomins.
The tour is designed for visitors to enjoy natural trails, artificial lakes and tropical dry forest areas that simulate different ecosystems of the past. In addition to monumental figures, the park offers interactive activities such as simulated paleontological excavations, boat walks and a zip line, which makes it an ideal place for both children and curious adults for natural history.
Gondava operates from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. m. until 4:15 p. m., And during the high season it opens every day. The income price varies between $ 18,000 and $ 20,000 pesos for adults, while children and older adults can enter a reduced rate of between $ 15,500 and $ 18,500. Some special activities, such as fossil exhibitions, have an additional cost.

It also has a restaurant, rest areas, free parking and spaces covered for school activities or large groups, which makes it a very complete place for family getaways or educational excursions.
Visiting Gondava represents an opportunity to learn about the paleontological wealth of Colombia and enjoy a day surrounded by nature, science and fun. Its proximity to other attractions of Boyacá such as the blue wells, the Paleontological Museum of Villa de Leyva or the monastery of the Holy Ecce Homo make it a must for those who travel this region of the Cundiboyacense Altiplano.
