Pescadores de Nizao, Peravia province, denounced that the Punta Catalina thermoelectric plant ended fishing on the coast of that community and that for that reason they demand compensation for more than 300 million pesos.
They explained that the fishing has disappeared, as a consequence of the construction of the length of a thousand 300 meters of the Carbonero port of Punta Catalina.
Another factor that has contributed to the disappearance of the fish, is the impact of wastewater discharge of coal plants at a very short distance from the coast, with a temperature higher than the sea, with strong pressure and high chemical content, they add.
They pointed out that the sedimentation of the seabed has also increased by the fall of coal chips to the sea at the time of coal landings from the carbon ships and during the transfer to the outdoor to the stores.
