The strategy to achieve revinculation to the education system of 5,372 children and adolescents who stopped attending educational centers is promoted by the National Public Education Administration (ANEP) until July 25.
The Ministries of Social Development and Education and Culture, the Institute of the Child and Adolescent of Uruguay (INAU), the Social Security Bank (BPS), and the National Institute of Adolescent Social Inclusion (Inisa), also participate. In addition, the Ministry of Interior and the National Child Soccer Organization (ONFI) collaborate, according to the Report of the Presidency of the Republic.
“The problem is that they are in a universe that we are not sure what it can be, we think that they are situations of vulnerability. Therefore, it is important that the teams can operate on the same information,” explained the president of the ANEP, Pablo Caggiani, in the presentation of the strategy.
He considered that it is important that young people are in educational centers, not only as a way to guarantee access to education, but also to health and social protection. He also reported that the greatest absenteeism of this group is recorded in young people between 16 and 17 years of the Metropolitan Area of Montevideo.
For his part, the Minister of Social Development, Gonzalo Civila, explained that the initiative originated in the concern of the Anep authorities of revalting children and adolescents and also those of the portfolio “for developing a community policy that considers education as a pillar.”
“For us, it is very important to surround this transfers policy with accompaniment, for example, through these alerts, because they place the State in a proactive role, we will search throughout the country,” he said.
In the presentation, the president of INAU, Claudia Romero, also intervened; The General Director of Initial and Primary Education, Gabriela Salsamendi, and the manager of the area of sociocultural promotion of the Ministry of Social Development, Laura Voituret.
