The International Football Players Union (FIFPRO) lamented and condemned “the aberrant acts that occurred at the Corregidora Stadium in Mexico,” where 22 people were injuredtwo of them seriously, due to a fight between fans while the match was being played Queretaro-Atlas that had to be suspended.
“Awaiting official confirmation, our thoughts are with the victims and those affected by such an unfortunate day today”indicated this Sunday the union that presides over David Aganzopresident of the Association of Spanish Soccer Players (AFE).
The Querétaro-Atlas match, from the ninth day of the Clausura of Mexican soccerwas suspended after the acts of violence that ended with the invasion of the field by the fans, in which a total of 22 injuries were recorded, two seriousaccording to Civil Protection data.
After these events, the Mexican Association of Soccer Players requested the suspension of the dayin which three games were scheduled for this Sunday, as confirmed later by the president of Liga MX, Mikel Arriola, in solidarity with those affected.
The match had to be suspended in the 62nd minute after spectators began to invade the field to prevent a violent fight between fans of both teams in the stands, which caused the players to take refuge in the changing rooms and the referee ended the match.
