THE Body of the black singer Gil will be veiled on Friday (25), at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro. 
According to a family statement on social networks, the ceremony will be open to the public from 9am to 1pm.
Cancer victim, Preta died on Sunday (20) at age 50 in New York, United States, after a worsening in her health condition. She was in the country to have an experimental treatment to combat the disease, which was diagnosed in 2023.

Decree signed by the mayor of Rio de Janeiro Eduardo Paes, published today (22), creates the “Circuit of Black Rua Carnival Blocks Gil” in the city center.
According to the considerations of the decree, Preta Gil was “decisive” in the resumption of street carnival in the center and contributed to the place to become an “urban space of cultural citizenship.” “The Black Block, founded in 2009, is one of the most relevant expressions of Rio Carnival bringing together millions of people on the streets of downtown Rio de Janeiro,” says the text.
The route of the Gil Preta Circuit will have a concentration on Rua 1º de Março, in the stretch between Rua do Rosário and Rua do Ouvidor, and from this point will go to Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos, at the time of Araújo Porto Alegre Street.
