According to the official statement, the events occurred on June 1, 2018, in a building located in the municipality of Nicolás Romero. Erika hit the victim and took her to a ravine where she threw her from a height of 3.4 meters.
Although the child was transferred to the General Hospital of Cuautitlán to receive medical attention, the girl died days later as a result of the injuries of the blows and the fall.
The Public Ministry contributed evidence against Erika Berenice and a judge based in Tlalnepantla issued the 55 -year sentence.
Prosecutor Edomex achieves sentences for feminicide and homicide
In the same statement and in different cases, the FGJEM added another three sentences for the crimes of homicide, femicide and femicide in a tentative degree.
In the first case, the court issued a sentence of 47 years and 6 months in prison to Salvador Armando Morales Barrera, for committing the crime of homicide against his sister last year.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the victim and the now sentenced were in a house in the La Providencia neighborhood, in the municipality of Valle de Chalco, where Salvador attacked his sister with a sharp object, causing injuries, on February 11, 2024.
The victim was transferred to a hospital in Ixtapaluca, where she died.
In another case, the Prosecutor’s Office reported on the conviction against Hugo Rojas Ramírez, responsible for the crime of femicide against his former sentimental partner, sentenced to 40 years in prison. On May 11, 2018, the victim was at home in the Agua Azul neighborhood, Pirules section in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl.
Hugo Rojas arrived at the place, who detonated with a firearm against him, causing death.
Finally, the State Public Ministry proved the responsibility of Alejandro Luis Marcos for the crime of femicide in the attempt, after he tried to cause the death of a woman who was in the streets of the Tepetlixco neighborhood, El Mirador, in the municipality of Tultepec, on July 23, 2023.
Alejandro Luis Marcos was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Edomex, among the most violent states in Mexico
The State of Mexico is one of the entities with the most records of crimes against women of 2025.
According to the Violence Report against the Women of the National Information Center, from January to May 31, 2025, 274 femicides have been reported in Mexico and the entity has 10.6%, with a total of 29 reports, which has the first state of the list.
In the case of women victims of malicious homicide, Edomex is in position three with a total of 75 of 911.
In the case of guilty homicide against women, it is in third place, with 100 records of 1,452.

Guilty lesions (22.2%, with 2,050 cases of 9,220 national)
Extortion (24%, with 435 cases of national 1,787)

Gender violence (40%, with 1,069 cases of national 2,671)
