President Lula participates, on Monday (21), in Chile, in a high level meeting on the defense of democracy, organized by Chilean President Gabriel Boric. 
Also participating in the event are the presidents of Colombia, Spain and Uruguay. Three themes will be discussed: the defense of democracy and multilateralism; the fight against inequalities; and confrontation to misinformation and digital technologies.
The meeting will be reserved for heads of state and will be followed by a meeting with representatives of civil society, academia and research centers.
For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will follow up on the meeting “in defense of democracy – fighting against extremism”, held in 2024, after the convening of President Lula and the president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez.

Another edition of this initiative will take place during the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September this year.
