EXJUEZA Melody González Pedraza faces possible deportation after audience

La exjueza cubana Melody González Pedraza

Miami, United States. – Cuban exjection Melody González Pedrazaaccused of having participated in acts of political repression in Cuba, confronted this week a final hearing before an immigration court in Florida, where its future will be decided in the United States.

González, who arrived in the country in May 2024 under the program of parole Humanitarian, remains detained by the Customs Immigration and Control Service (ICE). His process will culminate on May 8, when the immigration judge issues a decision.

During the hearing, lawyer Santiago Alpízar, president of the Cuba Organization, presented evidence and testimonies, according to Interview with the journalist Mario J. Pentónconfirm that the former judicial official “is a communist, a repressive agent [sic]a judge of the Communist Party of Cuba. ”

Alpízar also recalled that González was responsible for issuing sentences of up to four years in prison against four young people at the crossroads, Villa Clara, for alleged political crimes. “They [los acusados y condenados] They presented evidence beyond any reasonable doubt that they were not at the scene, ”said the lawyer.

One of the key elements revealed by Cuba demands is the existence of a statement signed by the other two judges that integrated the court with González, in which they claim not to have participated in the deliberation or approved the conviction. “Those two judges said in writing, with their identity card, that they did not agree with the decision,” Alpízar explained.

The exjude, meanwhile, has tried to separate itself from its past decisions claiming that it acted under higher orders. However, his language in the sentences and his history as president of the Municipal Court of Crucijada reinforce, according to Alpízar, his ideological alignment with the Cuban regime. “The way it writes[ba] The sentences clearly reveals their position on the side of the oppressors of the Communist Party of Cuba, ”he added.

One of the witnesses who intervened at the audience was Samuel Rodríguez, resident of the crossroads, who appeared with a t -shirt stamped with the faces of people who, he said, were unjustly tried by González. Rodríguez reiterated that the exjude is not the one who intends to be, in reference to his alleged change of life and approach to religion.

The Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba (FDHC) included González in his list of repressors and has warned about the entrance to the US of more than 115 former Cuban officials with repressive history only in the last year. The director of the Cubalex Legal Information Center, Laritza Diversent, has declared: “Melody is a human rights rapist, because it allows all the actions that State security invents against people like these boys.”

Despite having submitted witnesses and documents in his defense, González’s immigration process faces significant obstacles. According to Alpízar, “no one arrives in the US from a position like his without authorization of the Communist Party.”

The final decision on its deportation will be taken after the second part of the hearing on May 8. “I hope the judge accompanies the outrage that we all feel to have among us a person like this,” Alpízar concluded.
