So far, China has donated a total of 700,000 vaccines to Ecuador. The new doses will serve for the immunization of children between 5 and 11 years old
A new donation of 500,000 doses of vaccines Sinovac, against Covid-19, arrived this Saturday October 30, 2021 to the Mariscal Sucre airport, in Quito. The shipment arrived from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, according to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health (MSP).
The lot will go up to National Vaccine Bank, to then be distributed to the nine areas of the country and, from there, to the MSP health establishments and educational centers.
The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, highlighted the importance of China’s cooperation, because thanks to the total donation of 700,000 doses of vaccines from that country, the Ecuadorian Government maintains its objective of inoculating children 5 to 11 years old in the shortest possible time, to achieve community immunity.
Garzón added that vaccination process with Astrazeneca, Pfizer and Cansino is maintained according to planned.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the ROC, Chen Guoyou, commented that there have always been good diplomatic relations between the two nations, which today consolidate and support the economic and social development of the country.
Third doses
From the MSP it was announced that the Vaccination Plan continues with a booster dose of Astrazeneca to people over 65 years of age and with immunosuppression, to reduce the transmission of the virus and morbidity and mortality in those age and risk groups. (RR)
