JNE: lists of candidates for internal elections must respect alternation and electoral quotas

The lists of candidates who will participate in the internal elections, to be held next May as part of the process of must comply with the requirements of gender alternation, as well as with the quotas of young people and representatives of peasant, native communities or original peoples, in the cases required by the electoral law, recalled the (JNE).

He specified that for this purpose it is necessary for political organizations to take into account Resolutions 0912-2021-JNE and 0913-2021-JNE, which establish the number of authorities to be elected (councilors and aldermen) and the application of electoral quotas, as well as the regulations of registration of candidates approved with Resolutions 0942-2021-JNE and 0943-2021-JNE.

In this context, the highest electoral body stated that it is making progressive advances for greater participation in the candidate lists of citizens who belong to peasant communities, natives or original peoples.

An example of this is that the constituencies in which there must be such a presence on their lists have been expanded, and this electoral quota has even been considered for the list of candidates for the Municipality of Lima.

According to the official information obtained by the aforementioned council, in Lima there are 10 polygons of recognized or titled peasant communitiessome located partially and others completely within the province of Lima.

Likewise, it is known that Lima has four rural communities with recognized legal status: Collanac, Llavanilla, Santa Rosa de Manchay and Las Viñas de Media Luna.

Process

The political organizations that will participate in the internal elections made their respective calls from January 15 to 22, 2022, according to the schedule of Internal Elections approved through Resolution No. 0923-2021-JNE.

Currently, this inmate process is in the process of preparing the voter lists affiliated with political organizations, for which the National Directorate for the Registration of Political Organizations (DNROP) has sent the corresponding information to the Renieck.

In order to participate in internal elections, in accordance with established regulations, political organizations must have an electoral body which, in turn, must have a president or head duly registered with the Registration of Political Organizations (ROP).

The JNE will deliver to the presidents of the electoral bodies of the political parties and regional movements, through their respective electronic mailbox, the access code to the computer system “Declare Internal” for the presentation of their lists of candidates.
