“During the last three years we have refined the product so that banks can integrate our software into their terminals (TPVS),” says Kuri in an interview.
For the entrepreneur and former banker, the challenge for the financial industry is to implement efficient infrastructure solutions that banks already have.
“You can make the account division between the number of diners and you run (the account); the waiter does not go the accounts,” says Kuri.
The solution allows the account to be divided in the terminals, regardless of whether it is paid in a combined manner with credit cards, debit or effective.
Card payments in restaurants
Card payments in restaurants increased 12% by 2024 compared to the previous year, according to figures from the Bank of Mexico.
Until the first quarter of 2025, card payments in restaurants amounted to 95.7 million operations, according to official figures.
For Kuri, given the growing use and adoption of payment aggregators compared to the traditional points of sale of banks, better solutions for customers are required.
The businessman tells, in his own experience, that 60% of the people who entered their business in 2022 asked to make card payments and that the figure increased up to 80% this year.
“There are more and more people who just want to bring their card or phone closer,” he said.
Having more practical and rapid payment terminals allows businesses to increase the average business ticket by 10% and up to 20% in the tips of the waiters.
“Instead that the waiter asked the client how much he wants to leave tip, the terminal simply passes and the client stops tipping; it is a very intimate moment to leave tip,” he adds.
