Poland received 106,000 refugees in 24 hours, the maximum number of the invasion

Poland received 106,000 refugees from Ukraine in the last 24 hours, the highest figure since the invasion of that country by Russia began, as reported this Saturday (03.05.2022) by the Polish authorities.

As of Friday, some 650,000 displaced persons had arrived in the country, making Poland the main host country for these refugees.

According to UN figures on Friday, it is estimated that 1.2 million people have left Ukraine in the last ten days, of which 78,000 would be non-Ukrainians, mainly students or workers residing in the country and distributed among 138 nationalities.

The head of the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, estimated a few days ago that the invasion of Ukraine could cause some four million displaced people, a figure that yesterday rose to ten million, which is almost 25 percent of the population of Ukraine.

In Poland, where 1.5 million Ukrainians already lived before the Russian offensive, people organize themselves on social networks to collect money and medicines and also offer free housing, food, work or transportation to refugees.
