The lawyers who challenge the imprisonment in El Salvador of more than 200 Venezuelans deported by the United States said that the Salvadoran government is denying prisoners access to lawyers and contact with the outside world, the Reuters news agency reviewed this Tuesday, April 15.

Private lawyers, some contacted by the Venezuelan government and all paid by families, have presented Habeas Corpus resources before the Supreme Court of El Salvador, seeking to force the Government to justify the detention of deported Venezuelans or release them.
The law firm Grupo Ortega, which represents at least 30 of the Venezuelan deportees, has not received a response to any of those requests, said its general director Jaime Ortega.
The Presidency of El Salvador did not immediately respond to the requests for comments made by the news agency.
