The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Piura, Mateo Gómez, said that these dates represent one of the key moments of the tourist calendar in the Piura region. Because its religious, cultural and recreational connotation coincides with a period of greater internal mobility nationwide, which favors the dynamism of the economic sectors linked to tourism: lodging, gastronomy, transport, retail trade and recreational activities.
To do this, he said that according to estimates of the area of Economic Studies, in coordination with entrepreneurs in the sector, they expect more than 150,000 visitors to arrive this week, which has an average expense of 1,292 soles, so it is expected to generate an economic movement exceeding S/ 75 million.
“According to a study from Mincetur, the main most visited destinations in these times are Máncora and the organs, with 34%; Colán and Paita, with 21%; Catacaos and Chulucanas, with 18%; Ayabaca and Huancabamba, with 15%and others of 12%.
Mateo Gómez also explained that in the lodging sector, the level of hotel occupancy in coastal areas (beach areas) is expected to be above 80%, while in rural and religious areas it is expected to exceed 75%.
In addition, in restaurants and other sectors, it is estimated that more than 5,200 economic units of the commerce, accommodation, transport and food sector are actively linked to the tourist chain during Holy Week.
He also said there are more than 2100 restaurants with traditional offer and shellfish; More than 1400 formal lodgings throughout the region, more than 800 motorcycle motorcycles and taxis waiting to operate intensively and more than 300 artisans and temporary merchants located at Catacaos fairs, Sechura and La Enchanted.
“62% of the mypes operating in this sector expect an increase in income of between 20% and 35%, compared to an average weekend, according to entrepreneurs of the sector associated with the Chamber of Commerce,” Mateo Gómez explained.
For his part, the mayor of Catacaos, Johnny Cruz, reported that in this district the arrival of 20,000 visitors is expected and it is planned to collect more than 2.5 million soles during these dates.
“More than 20,000 national and foreign tourists will be arriving in our district to know a little more of their tourist attractions, its trade, its crafts, the San Juan Bautista Church, Narihualá and taste the best of gastronomy. With this, we are thinking an economic movement of more than 2.5 million soles,” said the economist.
