Tomás Yarrington, former governor of Tamaulipas accused of having received bribes from members of the Gulf and Gulf cartels Los Zetas, He paid his preparatory statement to a federal judge.
The PRI requested duplicity of the deadline for defining whether he is given a formal prison or liberty car, which will happen on Thursday.
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) points out in its inquiries that Yarrington Ruvalcaba received money obtained from drug transfer since he was a candidate for governorship, in 1998.
Víctor Paz Castillo, Secretary of Acting Agreements of Federal Judge, headed the hearing that was held through videoconference, with Yarrington participating from a room of the Federal Center for Social Readaptation (Cefereso) number 1, Altiplano, and the imparter of justice in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
According to information from the ministerial authorities, the hearing had a duration of three hours, but the accused only heard the accusations that are part of the previous investigation, which are partly supported by statements of collaborating witnesses who were part of the cartels of Los Zetas and of the Gulf.
The former president decided not to make any demonstration and his defense requested the extension of the deadline for his legal status from 72 to 144 hours.
Yarrington was delivered by United States authorities to Interpol Mexico to face its criminal proceedings in the country, after declaring themselves guilty and complying with a nine -year sentence for crimes against health and operations with resources of illicit origin before US justice.
