Cine Teatro Carlos Gomes, in Santo André, at ABC Paulista, displays this Saturday (12), at 19h, the documentary ABC Punks. The premiere has free admission. One hour and a half long, the film brings little known stories of the movement punk and the scene underground of the ABC worker suburb, as well as an unprecedented historical file, with posters, fanzinesphotos, cassette tapes and recordings in Videotape.
The work revisits the last 150 years of the political and social history of ABC Paulista, with the arrival of Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and German anarchists in the region in the late 19th century, the emergence of the first unions and the murder of Constantino Castellani, considered the first punk From ABC.
According to the director, researcher, journalist and writer Jairo Costa, the film also addresses the resistance to the military dictatorship, the emergence of the movement punk In 1977, going through the great metallurgical strikes of 1979 and 1980. With production by Izabel Bueno, from Strangers Attradores Filmes, the documentary also shows the conflicts between punks ABC and punks Paulistanos in the 1980s, the confrontation of neo -Nazi groups in the region, the realization of Opera punk In 1998, the June 2013 days to the present day.
The film, financed with funds from the Paulo Gustavo Law, is all in black and white and brings together images that Jairo began to capture between 1998 and 2000, with a VHS camera, when he was 20 and in his early years and was part of the movement punk of the region.
“I recorded a lot of show, staff on the street meeting, train rides, confrontation situations between gangs. This was kept and, during the pandemic period, I recovered the ribbons. When the pandemia paused in 2021, 2022 I started the interviews and reached 47 people,” he said.
Among the interviewees for the documentary, which Jairo classifies from anti -fascist, are dozens of punksfrom the pioneers, such as the Barata, from the band DZK; the hand, of the rotten boys; Buba and Marcelo Magrão, from the Martial Court; Even contemporary bands, such as carpet feeling and Karias de Kafka, as well as young people from the new generation punk of the region, which are in the 20 years of age.
“I usually say that This movie is the Pure ABC juice. It is much identified with ABC, union, strike, linked to the social movement, political manifestations, anti -fascists, anti -racists. We sought to make an edition that demonstrates the posture of punkswhich are mostly anarchists and fight fascists here in the region for a long time. ”
According to Jairo, it is these characteristics that differentiate punks ABC from other parts of the country, where the idea was to form bands, for example. At ABC, the goal was primarily political engagement and confrontation to things they considered wrong in society.
“THE punk It defends freedom of expression, self -management and is against all types of oppression, discrimination. And seeks to combat the social inequalities that exist. The punk It has always been an advanced movement. In the 1980s, he already spoke of veganism, ecology, was already fighting the military dictatorship, fascism. And one of the goals is to shock, with the look. The media have misrepresented the vision to label movement as very harmful to society, but it is quite the opposite, ”he said.
Jairo also remembered the confrontation between punks and ABC balds, nationalist groups, linked to far -right movements, also emerged in the late 1980s in the region. In addition to balds, the documentary cites the White Powersgroups that defend white supremacy. “You punks They always fought their actions at ABC. THE doc Show this and how punks have always manifested themselves against this kind of ideology. ”
According to Jairo, the documentary comes to fill an existing gap in the history of the movement, as there are numerous works on punk In the country, but there was nothing portraying ABC. “There was no audiovisual product that showed our view here. The documentary has this mission to show what was the punk in the past, what it is in the present, the new generations, and point out what can be the punk in the future”.
For now, there are no rooms set for the film’s screening for the general public, but Jairo said this is being negotiated with ABC theaters. Cine Theater Carlos Gomes is located at 110 Senador Fláquer Street, in the center of Santo André.
