The boy who was drowning in Camarioca found on the beach of Varadero

Havana/Three days after his disappearance, the body of a child under eight years was found lifeless at the beach of Villa Los Pinos, in the mouth of Camarioca. His family had given the alert voice through social networks on Saturday, after the boy stayed alone with a girl on the seashore.

The minor, whose name has not transcended, lived in Limonar, a municipality of Matanzas located almost 25 kilometers from the beach which he went to his 20 -year -old brother, and other relatives to spend on Saturday. According to the testimonies that have circulated in networks, the events occurred when the elderly were distracted a few moments, leaving the two small alone in the water.

Its closest circle immediately began the search, to which specialized rescue and rescue teams were joined, as well as firefighters and other members of the Interior Ministry. Volunteers resident in the area also approached to cooperate in the search, which concentrated on the seashore, with support of fishermen in the area and guardian troops.

The efforts were in vain and the child could only be found dead, as confirmed by the official press, which placed the finding on a beach near Varadero, at the height of 54th Street, which is a distance of 13 kilometers with respect to the point of disappearance.

The child’s death occurred just a month after Carlos Javier Sáncheza 16 -year -old under the waves in the vicinity of the Malecon, in Centro Habana. The rescue teams found the adolescent’s body two days after their trail was lost “near the tip,” said the official press.

Both cases are due to recklessness or distractions, as numerous users in social networks have remembered, who remember the importance of being vigilant in these scenarios that involve a certain risk. According to the most recent data of the World Health Organization, a quarter of the drowning deaths that occur in the world –300,000– correspond to children under five years.

A very different case, but that left a recent mark on the island was the death of Jonathan Olivaon February 24. The boy, who was 12 years old, was sucked by a sewer during torrential rains in Havana. The evil sanitation of the streets of the capital made countless drains that caused floods of almost a meter at some points, so it is possible to attribute responsibility to the authorities.
