Enrollment 2022 increases 5% in the public sector and decreases 15.8% in the private area

With the migration of nearly 2,000 students from the private system to the public system, state schools register an increase in their enrollment of 5% for this 2022; while in private schools it is the other way around since they register a decrease of -15.8%.

According to the Minister of Education Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, last year student migration was much higher than this year, since 14,000 students migrated in 2021, however, she stressed that there is still the possibility that student migration continues since there are parents who still do not specify the registrations in private centers.

He stressed that it is expected that, in public schools, an estimated 840 thousand 497 students will enter schools in 2022, and in private schools there will be 113 thousand 736 students.

According to educational levels, adding the two sectors of Panamanian education, in initial it is projected that 2,481 begin, in preschool 100,690 infants, for primary 473,545, premedia the estimate is 215,975 and for average 161,541 young people.

In the official schools, an initial admission of 1,856 children is expected; for preschool another 88,342; primary is estimated 422,468; on average 190,055; and for mean 137.776. For private schools, it is estimated for the initial level 624 infants; in preschool 12,349; in primary school 51,078; in the average 25,920; and in the middle level 23,766 students.
