All ministers of the Second Supreme Court (STF) vote on Friday (11) to maintain the convictions of four convicted of the fire in the Kiss nightcluboccurred in 2013, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, which left 242 dead and more than 600 injured.
The case was tried in a virtual session, which began last week. Today, the votes were uttered by the Rapporteur, Minister Dias Toffoliwho was accompanied by ministers Gilmar Mendes, Edson Fachin, Nunes Marques and André Mendonça.
The five collegiate ministers expressed themselves against the appeals of the accused to reverse the decision of the Supreme Court who upheld the convictions decided by the Jury Court and ordered the arrest of those involved.
With the decision, the convictions of former clubs of nightclub Elissandro Callegaro Spohr (22 years and six months in prison) and Mauro Londero Hoffmann (19 years and six months), as well as the singer of the band Gurizada Fandangueira, Marcelo de Jesus dos Santos, and music producer Luciano Bonilha. Both were sentenced to 18 years in prison.
