Monterey, NL. The government of Nuevo León detected irregularities when responding to a complaint about an alleged blockage of water that flowed into the Cerro Prieto Dam. After an inspection, a company’s machinery was seized, which generated the problem, and these facts will be reported to the Federation.
Governor of Nuevo Leon Samuel Alejandro Garcia Sepulveda He rejected the blocking of the tributary and pointed out that it is a crime that falls to the Federation.
“We sent an audit to Linares and we found these people with machinery, covering a river that carries water to the Cerro Prieto Dam, this is a federal crime. The people arrived and fled, they left the machinery there (…) the people’s water was stolen from them,” said the governor.
During an inspection diligence in the Pablillo River, at the height of Ejido El Perico, in the municipality of Linares, it was where the Nuevo León Environment Attorney discovered these irregularities.
During the tour it was found that, due to the extraction activities, the flow of the natural channel was being obstructed, forming water stagnation resulting from the removed material itself.
The agency warned that this obstruction could cause an imminent risk of ecological imbalance, so it imposed the security measure consisting of the precautionary insurance of an excavator owned by a company that works in the area.
