Most Brazilians – 52% – intend to buy Easter eggs this year. Average expenses with chocolates in general, should be at $ 59.00. On average, each consumer wants to buy three products. The data are from the research “The Passion of the Brazilian for Chocolate”, made by Nexus and released this Friday (11), in São Paulo.
A curious data of the study is that four out of ten Brazilians (43%) have never even bought an Easter egg. At the same time, 37% said they always purchased the product and another 19% sometimes.
The high price was the main reason pointed out not to buy eggs or other types of chocolate for 36% of respondents. The value of the product was the most relevant data among the younger ones (43% in the age group of 18 to 24 years).
The survey also showed that the habit of consuming chocolate eggs every year is more common among residents of the Southeast (40%), aged 35 to 40 years (44%), family income above five minimum wages (49%) and children under 18 (50%).
Shopping peak will be until the 20th
The survey also reveals that 18% among those 52% who want to buy Easter eggs this year have already been to trade. Those who still go shopping until Easter Sunday (April 20) totaled 34%.
A curiosity of the study is that 21% of people with family income up to a minimum wage have already bought their products. And 45% among those with the highest income (over five minimum wages) have not yet acquired either eggs or chocolates for Easter.
In addition, the survey also shows that 45% among those who have given up buying eggs this year, almost half (21%) intend to acquire other types of chocolate, and 27% do not plan any type acquisition.
The survey consulted two thousand people across the country, aged 18 years, between March 27 and 31, 2025. The margin of error is two percentage points, with a confidence interval of 95%.
