In his speech at the IX Summit of the CELAC, the Uruguayan Chancellor, Mario Lubetkin, stressed the importance of maintaining peace and socioeconomic growth in Latin America, in a global context of constant changes and challenges. During his speech at the Foreign Ministry meeting in Tegucigalpa, Lubetkin stressed that the region must focus on common problems and opportunities to advance jointly.
The chancellor emphasized that, in a world full of uncertainty, Latin America must focus on cooperation and strengthening regional ties. “It is much more that should unite us than separate,” he said, highlighting that unity and respect for diversity are fundamental to progress. In this regard, he urged countries to collaborate in key areas such as the fight against hunger, poverty, organized crime, environmental protection and energy transition.
Lubetkin also addressed the importance of food security, highlighting that a hungry person cannot be free, and stressed that this challenge affects the entire region. He also spoke about human mobility, reaffirming the region’s commitment to the management of migratory flows and the integration of migrants with dignity and respect.
Finally, the Chancellor highlighted the value of meetings such as CELAC, where the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean can dialogue and find solutions for common challenges, something that, according to Lubetkin, is essential for the strengthening of regional integration.
