The verified account of Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) on social network X was disabled on Friday (21). Those who try to access the electronic address of the profile receive the message “This account does not exist”.
A few hours after the deactivation, the Supreme Advisory stated that it was Moraes himself that disabled the profile, in which he had not published since January 2024, according to informed.
Deactivation occurs a day after Moraes determined that X – former Twitter – make the immediate payment of a Fine of R $ 8.1 million applied against the company in October last year.
He decided to pay the fine after the X failed to remove the profile of blogger Allan dos Santos, after the disclosure of false conversations attributed to a journalist.
Subsequently, the account was suspended, but the registration information of the profile was not sent to the STF because X reported that it does not keep the data. The company appealed the decision, but the appeals were rejected by the minister.
When trying to access the account of Santos, which was overthrown by the platform itself by order of Moraes, the user faces the message “retained account”. The message “This account does not exist”, in turn, usually occurs when the user himself erases his profile.
Other Ministers of the Supreme – such as Gilmar Mendes, Luís Roberto Barroso and Flavio Dino – continue with active profiles in X, all with several posts made in recent months. The profile of Moraes, which was created in August 2017, in turn, was no longer being updated frequently, although it remained in the air.

Moraes has been attacked frequently by businessman Elon Musk, who bought Twitter in 2022 and changed the name of the social network to X. Musk adopted an extreme defense stance of freedom of expression, and since then the company has failed to moderate various offensive content that were before erased.
Musk directly criticizes Moraes for decisions in which the minister determines the suspension of profiles in X. In his profile on the social network, the entrepreneur also criticizes the conduct of criminal actions against those involved in the attacks of 8 January 2023, when supporters of the ex -President Jair Bolsonaro invaded and depredated the headquarters of the three powers in Brasilia.
