Ceibal gathered teachers in the region in Melo
For the first time since it began to be held, 8 years ago, the Ceibal Summer School was made in a city in the interior of the country.
Around a hundred teachers from all education subsystems participated in the activities that took place this Thursday, February 20 at the Amphitheater of the High Specialization Institute.
“The Ceibal Summer School is a tradition, we are already in the 7th edition, always in Montevideo where we concentrated teachers from all over the country, and this is the 1st edition we do inside. For this time it is a single day, but hopefully over the years we can add days ” reported Carolina Ferreira.
“We chose Cerro Largo because there is always a group of teachers who participate a lot in the school of Montevideo, a very committed group. In addition, the IAE, with Carlos Hoyo and his team, are receiving us wonderfully ” projection.
The Ceibal Territory Manager explained to The daily professional That the fundamental objective of Summer School is Professional Teaching Development. “We as Ceibal are at the service of the public education system” said. “One of our tasks is to bring training, not only in technology, but also on issues such as initial literacy, competition issues and robotics issues” held.
The program reaches all teachers throughout Uruguay. “Sometimes it is done virtually, reaching many people from remote locations. Beyond that, sometimes it is necessary and more in February that teachers are starting the year, finding, exchange experiences and sharing learning ” He stressed.
An international lecturer
In the morning, the teachers who attended the day, were part of a dissertation in charge of a recognized speaker at the level of the entire region, an expert in learning and initial literacy issues, a native of the province of Mendoza, Republic Argentina.
Ferreira considered it essential that this professional was in Melo and that the conference was not dictated virtually. “We in Ceibal have a very strong local team, composed of 5 people. With that we achieve the roots to the territory ” He stressed. “Yes, Uruguay is very small, for the characteristics of a territory such as the northeast area- long, thirty-three- is essential for them to also generate an instance of sharing learning and looking for solutions together.”
A qualified team in territory
He added that Ceibal many years ago has been working in the department with a qualified teaching team. “I hope that many of them next year are standing here giving their own workshops because they have an accumulation of learning and very large knowledge” assured.
Around 200 teachers enrolled to participate in the activities. “That marks that we are on the good path, which is something that the community needed and claimed.”
He said that beyond this punctual proposal, throughout the year the local CEIBAL team has promoted different proposals. “Last year we had an experience, for the second time, which is called Ceibal shares where teachers from the Rural School of Mangrullo to people of the Higher Technical School of Melo told their experience with the chiquilines, exchanging knowledge. That is fundamental ” He said.
“Ceibal has a lot of programs and projects. We are an innovation agency with technology at the service of the education system. Specifically in Cerro Largo are working the issue of computational thinking and artificial intelligence, CEIBAL in English, the community of pedagogical innovation and digital citizenship ” detailed. “On this occasion we came with a language program and came with robotics programs. We want teachers to know that we are at their service, therefore, they can request a workshop on the subject that interests them ” reported.
