Monsignor Nicolás Castellanos turned 90 years of life before leaving eternity. A day later, he would exhale his last sigh on the earth that he was his with endearing and devout love. The news of his death was received with surprise and much sadness. In particular, for the Cruceños with whom he began to share since his arrival in religious mission in 1991, 34 years ago. He took root in the three thousand plan after having renounced the diocese of Palencia in his native Spain.

In the Andrés Ibáñez citadel, Monsignor Nicolás became a reference. For its pleasant, charismatic and solid personality, also highlighting its delivery and commitment to the most needy. With inexhaustible enthusiasm, he promoted development, education, health and other items. He was the founder of the New Men Project, perhaps his eldest work, to improve the living conditions in the most needy neighborhoods.

Among many recognitions, in 1998 he received the Prince of Asturias Award. He was even proposed to the Nobel Peace Nobel in 2022. In December 2024, he shot without hairs in the tongue: “There is no right to be in misery. The fault is our incompetent rulers. The lack of true social justice has plunged the country in poverty. Corruption is a cancer that has prevented the development of Bolivia. ”

His earthly presence was like a caress of God, he said with a lot of feeling by saying goodbye to the very respectable and dear Monsignor Nicolás in his return to the Father. Permanent honor to his memory.
