Miami, United States. – The Cuban Resistance Assembly (ARC) expressed on Thursday its concern for those described as “transnational repression actions of the Cuba regime against the exiled community in Miami.”
In a letter ―To who had access Cubanet– Directed on February 20 to the United States Attorney General PAM Bondi, the organization denounced that the island’s regime carries out a systematic campaign of intimidation and harassment against Cuban American activists in US territory.
“Cuban American activists in the United States are being harassed, intimidated, threatened and turned into the target of misinformation campaigns designed to promote violence against them,” the ARC warned of their letter.
According to the organization, the actions reported comply with the definition of crimes of transnational repression established by the FBIwhich take place “when foreign governments reach beyond their borders to intimidate, silence, coerce, harass or damage members of their diaspora and communities exiled in the United States.”
Among the reported practices include stalking, online misinformation campaigns, harassment, cyber attacks and physical aggressions. In addition, the ARC accused the regime of using false accusations against Cuban refugees to request extraditions and generate red notifications in Interpol, restricting the freedom of movement of opponents and their participation in human rights events.
“In recent months, the Castro regime has significantly increased its transnational repressive activities,” the ARC warned, insisting that these actions have reached a level of sophistication that merits special investigation or the creation of a working group by the Department of Justice.
In the letter, the Cuban Resistance Assembly requested a meeting with Bondi or with an official of the Department of Justice to address the issue and coordinate protection strategies for the exiled community.
The organization reiterated its concern about the impact of these measures on the security and civil rights of Cuban exiles in the United States and requested immediate action by Washington.
