Cuba remembers 62 years of La Coubre steam explosion

The Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero-Cruz He also evoked the date on Twitter and stressed that Cuba painfully remembers the criminal sabotage.

“#Today #Cuba remembers with pain the criminal sabotage carried out on March 4, 1960 on the French ship La Coubre, a maneuver orchestrated by the Government of the #USA against our country, which left a balance of a hundred victims,” he tweeted.

For its part, Robert Morales Ojedamember of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, recalled on the social network the 62 years of the criminal sabotage and described it as a sad page in the history of the Cuban people.

“We remember a sad page in the history of the Cuban people, 62 years of the criminal sabotage of steamship imperialism #LaCoubre. #Fidel: Now freedom means something even more: freedom means homeland. And our dilemma would be homeland or death. #Cuba will always win”, refers the tweet.

The La Coubre steamship was a ship of French origin that was the object of a terrorist act on March 4, 1960 when it was transporting weapons and ammunition.

Two explosions took place that caused nearly a hundred deaths and four hundred wounded and injured.

At the funeral of the victims, on March 5, 1960, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro mentioned for the first time the slogan that would accompany the Cuban revolutionary process to the present day: Homeland or Death.
