In private and public medical centers, the patients with viruses and gastric problems crowd the emergencies by presenting symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea, in the intestinal case, or headache, fever and cough if it is respiratory virus.
The increase in a stomach virus with vomiting and diarrhea has unleashed concern in various sectors of the health system, despite the fact that the Minister of Health, Víctor Atallah, minimizes the impact of conditions in the country.
However, Atallah admits that “an increase of patients with these manifestations is undoubtedly being seen, which happens frequently at this time of the year.”
He added that “it is increasing not only in the country, three days ago an alert for the high amount of respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses that they are seeing, which also happens in other countries, because at this time it is usual for that happens ”
He pointed out that this happens at this time of the year because respiratory viruses weaken the immune system of people and create that pathology and on the other hand, people make food disorders.
He stressed that in addition to active surveillance, the health system has available in hospitals and through the pharmacies of the people of Promse, all the necessary supplies to meet the cases received.
The Minister of Health said that the most important recommendations that the population should take into account are currently hand washing, hygienizing food before eating them and avoiding the consumption of raw products.
Given the first symptoms, he added, it is recommended that people go to the doctor, especially if fever occurs, maintain good hydration and above all to observe the hygiene rules that are published periodically.
