President acknowledges that she focused prevention work against rains in the north

The President Dina Boluarte He acknowledged that his government focused on prevention work for the effects of rains in the northern part of the country, in reference to the emergency situation against the floods of the rivers that have been affecting the southern zone.

“Given the experience of the Yaku phenomenon and looking that there were no machinery, we firmly decided, to buy machinery from the Ministry of Defense, from the Ministry of Housing, from transport and also from agriculture … and as those of those of Senamhi that the El Niño phenomenon is going to enter or the girl’s current will enter. But we don’t think I was going to rain with such quantity, “Boluarte said.

“But we still enter that preventive work, and yesterday we have arranged that all that machinery is operating at 100% nationwide, decolming the rivers, strengthening the riverbank, so that our families do not have the phenomenon of the Yaku again,” he added.

The President of the Republic recognized these works during her participation in the inauguration of the Municipal Table “strengthening the Decentralized Management Agenda 2025, Macro Sur” that takes place in the city of Tacna.

As is known, the Arequipa region is on a maximum alert due to the heavy rains that have plague the area for several days. The magnitude of the emergency has exceeded the response capacity of local authorities, which has led the regional governor, Rohel Sánchez, to request the Executive the emergency declaration for 103 districts from seven provinces.

During a virtual meeting with President Dina Boluarte, Governor Sánchez explained that despite the efforts deployed, torrential rains have caused huaicos, overflows of rivers and serious damage to the road, agricultural and housing infrastructure. Unfortunately, two deaths have also been reported.

The most affected provinces are La Unión, Castilla, Condesuyos, Caravelí, Caylloma, Camaná and Arequipa. In these areas, the rains have destroyed roads, crop fields and homes, leaving thousands of people affected and without access to basic services.
