In contrast to male Mexican migrants, in the case of women, the number of deportees in the United States for irregular stay increased 273 percent in five years.
During 2024, 46 thousand 944 Mexicans were returned to the country, while in 2020 there were 17 thousand 165.
According to data from the immigration policy unit of the Ministry of the Interior, in the case of general migration last year there was a reduction compared to 2023, and in the same way, it was lower than the 2022 report, but the specific statistics on Mexicans show a opposite trend year after year.
By 2021 there were 18 thousand 721, a figure that increased in 2022 when 36 thousand 409 were recorded, and by 2023 it increased again to 38 thousand 652.
When analyzing the sites of origin, there are also differences with respect to men.
In the case of women, most are originally from Guerrero, and not Chiapas, as with men.
In the report of the agency, it is added that of the total of nationals who were returned to the country, 5,342 are from Guerrero; 4 thousand 890, from Chiapas; 4 thousand 755, from Oaxaca; 3 thousand 865, from Veracruz; 3 thousand 859, from Puebla; 3 thousand 615, from Michoacán, and 3 thousand 121 of Guanajuato.
Previously, the migration of Mexican nationals to the neighboring country was linked only to the male sex; However, one of the most transcendental changes in recent years is observed in the composition of this flow
in which there are more and more women, it is exposed in the most recent edition of the publication Mobility, issued by the immigration policy unit.
Of the total of the repatriated Mexican population in the interior of the Republic through the repatriation procedure in Mexico, including men and women, 14.5 percent returned accompanied by a family member, 1.9 percent with some child, girl or adolescent and 12.6 percent with an adult family member.
However, when segmenting according to sex, there are differences between men and women, that is, for the most part, they travel with greater accompaniment (23.5 percent), mainly of children and adolescents. The greatest accompaniment that women present is related to the existence of family units within the repatriated population
is indicated in said document.
Until October 15, 2024, within this population group, 226 family units of biparental or single -parent composition had been received during the last year.
