Petrobras launches, this Monday (17), in Rio de Janeiro, a bid for the purchase of eight gas ships. This is the second bidding of the fleet renewal and expansion program, which provides for the acquisition of five presumed type of petroleum liquefied gas (LPG) and three semi -refrigerated vessels capable of transporting LPG and Ammonia.
According to Petrobras, the bid is public and international and includes two lots (one for the pressurized and one for the semi -refrigerates). The same shipyard or consortium will not be able to participate in the competition in both lots.
Of the pressurized ships, three will be able to carry seven million liters and two, 14 million liters. Semi -refrigerated can carry 10 million liters.
With this hiring, Transpetro’s Gaseeiro Ship fleet will rise from six to 14, expanding the transportation capacity of 36 million to up to 108 million liters.
Gaseiros will be up to 20% more efficient in terms of consumption and will be able to work in electrified ports. According to Petrobras, the new fleet will allow a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Fleet expansion
The fleet renewal and expansion program is part of the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) and has already hired, in January this year, four ships in the class Handy.
At the end of last year, Petrobras hired 12 new maritime (PSV) support vessels, which will be built at the winning companies’ own shipyards, located in Santa Catarina.
The state -owned company also provides to hire 20 new vessels – ten emergency support and response (the so -called OSRVs), eight for inspection and interventions in submarine systems (RSVS) and two for platform anchor (AHTS).
Petrobras will also sign protocols of intention on Monday with the objective of enabling the reuse of platforms that will be demobilized. By 2029, ten platforms will be demobilized.
