Ariel Correa, Argentine exassor Mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliagahe responded to the burgomaster after he denounced it by defamation and extortion. In a publication in his official X account, Correa rant against Aliaga insisting that he owed him money and that, instead of paying his debts, he decided to victimize.
“What madness! Having to go to the media to attack who you never fulfilled what you promised … wasn’t it simpler to be honest and pay the acquired debts? How long can you hold the lie to the tests ?

In this way he responded to Popular Renewal Leaderwho days before announced, also by X, that he had presented charges against him for the alleged crime of defamation and extortion. “The criminal complaint has already entered the Prosecutor’s Office. This subject will end in prison. Unfortunately, Sudaca did not ask for the other party version, so they are also defamed. They really disgust. But it is not surprising,” he said.
In that sense, apparently, the burgomaster extended the complaint for alleged defamation to the media Sudaca, which published on February 11 a report that presented a dispute between Aliaga and Correa.

Origin of the dispute between Rafael López Aliaga and his exassor
The aforementioned medium agreed to a letter sent by Arial to Aliaga last December, in which he detailed a series of disagreements. The main one was that the mayor of Lima had promised his then advisor a monthly payment of S/40,000 during the entire period of his position, that is, until 2026, however, this remuneration never occurred.
According to the letter, from January 2023 to May 2024, Correa only received S/30,000. This amount was paid by the game.
Since May 2024, Correa says, a fractional collection scheme was imposed. He ordered Correa “to invoice various municipal units and the party” a total of S/77000. The entities involved were: NGO Acap (Christian Association of Political Advisors), Focus Marketing & Management and Public Organizations of the Municipality of Lima.
After that they followed a series of alleged irregularities until finally, in the month of November, Correa was fired. According to the medium, it was the Congressman Norma Yarrow who informed him of the decision. Meanwhile, Aliaga told him that he did not have the capacity to pay him in a “legal and fair.”
