The São Paulo Civil Defense issued, on Sunday (16), an intense heat alert throughout the state, with temperatures that can reach 38 ° in some locations. According to the organ’s emergency management center, the temperature rise, caused by a hot air mass, will be felt in several regions of São Paulo until at least next Wednesday (19).
Maximum temperatures should reach 38 ° C in the Itapeva region and the Ribeira Valley; 36 ° C in Baixada Santista and in the regions of São José dos Campos, Araçatuba, Marília and Presidente Prudente and 35 ° C on the North Coast and in the regions of Bauru and Araraquara. In the Paraíba Valley and in the regions of Presidente Prudente, Barretos and Franca, the thermometers should reach the 34 ° C. And at 33 ° C in the metropolitan region of the state capital and in the regions of Sorocaba and Campinas.
According to the São Paulo Civil Defense, in these circumstances, it is necessary to redouble attention with the elderly and children, who should ingest plenty of water in order to remain well hydrated and protected from the sun. Pets should also be kept in places with shadow and fresh water available.

- Use sunscreen, cap or hat and light clothes;
- Stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water;
- Avoid intense physical activities outdoors during heat;
- Keep the environments ventilated;
- Never leave children or animals inside parked vehicles, as internal temperature can rise rapidly and cause risk of death.
