LA VEGA.-. The Director of the General Directorate of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC), Roberto Hernández Basilio, initiated the first meeting of the Intersectoral Commission of the Comprehensive Intervention Plan of the Center for Correction and Rehabilitation (CCR) El Pinito, of La Vega, through the which they try to apply the necessary improvements to optimize their operation and ensure adequate spaces for rehabilitation.
In the meeting, all the actors of the prison system of this demarcation and members of the Public Ministry, as well as other local authorities, among these, the Government and the Regional Health Directorate.
The director of the organ that regulates the penitentiary system said that with this synergy it is sought to give a comprehensive solution to the different problems detected in that center for deprivation of liberty, since its intervention last January.

During the work meeting, held at the CCR El Pinito, Hernández Basilio exposed to those present the plan of improvements and continuous action that, of course, is being executed in that penitentiary center.
The director of the DGSPC was accompanied by Judge Jessica Ramírez, Attorney General’s Attorney General, head of the Regional Attorney’s Office of La Vega; Elizabeth Rodríguez, Coordinator of the Public Defender; Ana Martich, first substitute for the Ombudsman, as well as Wanda Desirée García, representative of the Government.
Likewise, Marcia Ángeles, the Defensoría de Santiago participated; Dr. Maireni Pérez, provincial director of Health, and Ignacio Santiago, representative of the Penitentiary Pastoral, in addition to civil authorities in the area.
Roberto Hernández Basilio, who was accompanied by his work team, explained in detail the firm purpose of the Attorney General of the Republic in dedicating the necessary economic and human resources, in order to adopt the measures that guarantee that this penitentiary center provides To those deprived of liberty the required treatment and rehabilitation, which, he said, constitutes the mission and objective of this institution.

Immediately, Hernández instructed the director of the Center, Bernardo Henríquez, as well as the administrative deputy director, the assistance and treatment deputy director, and the deputy director of Security of the Center, who were present at the meeting, assume the commitment to continue developing the areas Productive, cultivation and fish farming ponds of that center for deprivation of liberty.
In that same order, it was emphatic in pointing out that it is necessary and its visitors.
After socializing the plans, objectives and advances related to the plan, the authorities carried out an inspection route through the different areas of the center, in addition to verifying the advances of the mental health pavilion for deprived of liberty with psychiatric conditions, whose installation is found in 90%.
In addition to the DGSPC management team, the rector of the Specialized Higher Institute for Penitentiary and Correctional Studies (ISEEPENC), Gladys Sánchez; The office coordinator, Julio García, as well as the person in charge of human resources, communication, technology personnel and the authorities of the center.
In the activity, the newly appointed director of the CCR El PinitoBernardo Henríquez, presented to the authorities the measures taken, in order to achieve short, medium and long term improvements, to make that space a real place of social reintegration for the deprived of liberty.
