The largest production unit of oil in the country to date, Admiral Tamandaré (Buzios 7) began operating in the field of Buzios, in the Santos Basin, about 180 kilometers from the coast of Rio de January, this Saturday (15). The Platform Ship has the capacity to process up to 225,000 barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The unit will explore 15 wells, seven oil producers, six water and gas injectors, a convertible (producer and injector) and a gas injector. They will all be interconnected to the platform through an underwater infrastructure.
The field of Buzios is considered one of the most promising points of the so -called Brazilian pre-salt An area of oil reserves formed by a layer of sedimentary rocks and located in ultra -deep waters of the Brazilian coast, between 5,000 and 7,000 meters deep.
In a statement, Petrobras reaffirmed the expectation that the field of Buzios will soon become its largest production field, and could exceed 1.5 million barrels of production per day. “The FPSo Admiral Tamandaré is part of the sixth Buzios production system and will contribute to the field to reach the production of 1 million barrels of oil per day, scheduled for the second half of 2025,” said the company’s president, Magda Chambriard .

The beginning of the operation occurred one day after the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) granted the missing authorizations for the Buzios shared deposit consortium, formed by Petrobras (operator that owns 88.9% of control about the enterprise), CNOOC (7.34%) and CNPC (3.67%) place the unit to function.
